Check the gutters for any signs of corrosion, leaks, or holes.
Once your gutters are cleaned, you can inspect them for any signs of rust or leaks. If your hose enters the gutter, it will send a continuous stream of water. This is most common in gutter joints that have metal edges welded together.
Your local hardware store will sell you gutter patching kits. You will need to caulk and/or seal any weak or corroded seams. You may notice places where gutters have fallen off of the roof or siding. Reattachment is required.
It is highly recommended to replace gutters that are badly damaged, rusted or otherwise compromised. Gutter/downspouts made of aluminum, copper or vinyl are a good investment because they resist corrosion and last longer.

Remember to install downspouts.
Your gutters catch water and debris from your roof. Your downspouts do the rest. Without them, all that water could drain to your foundation, putting your foundation at risk.
